Mr. Severin is a true adventurer who can write a rousing good yarn. His knowlege of history allows him to draw you into the world of a thousand years ago. I have to get the next book.

This DVD is a well made production in the tradition of Nova. Generally well done, with a great deal of archeological fact to counter centuries of "bad press" in regards to a brave, industrious and adventurous people.
This documentary covers Viking history, alluding to the population pressures that drove these people to "go a viking". Covers their conquests and exploration to their west as well as their forays to the east into what is now Russia.
This is a very good introduction to the "viking age", but - imho - does not go as far as I would like to show not only what they did but also who they were. Given the length of television documentaries, this is somewhat understandable, but I would have liked to have seen them explore more of Norse culture, their art, manufacturing techniques (ship building was covered well, though), the role of women in society, etc.
This is a very good primer on the influence these people had on the late dark age/early medieval period and I reccomend it to those interested on the subject. I would hope that it would whet appetites for further reading on the subject.

We used to have kitchen Aid mixers. They're junk. I ended up replacing the transmission in one of them myself only to have it go out again. So, after much review, and a belief that Viking was a high end product we bought the 1000 watt mixer. It works fine for light loads, but at the first attempt to knead wheat bread dough, a fairly hefty mix, a few months after buying it, it started make gear grinding noises and slipping. When I called the factory to see if they would "stand behind" their product and replace the transmission, I was told that "no it would cost me $250.00 just for the part". Very disappointing. It still works for light loads, but I am going to try the Electrolux and hope for better results.

I have been eagerly anticipating the fourth book in the Strongbow Saga, so I hope someone is listening out there! This series has been such a great read for me and my students. I am a librarian in a junior high school and the books in this series have something to offer so many of my students. The story line would appear to be more for the male student as it is filled with action, adventure, and the violence that goes with the reality of life during the Viking times. I also recommend this series to girls as Halfdan is a young man who, amidst a life of savagery and brutality, maintains his ability to live his life with honor and dignity. His gentlemanly ways makes him a really "hot" guy that rivals Edward in the hot department - and that says a lot. I felt the series got better with each book and I really want to see where Halfdan ends up.

I purchased this game a few months after it came out. I risked the money on it because I didn't play it first, but thought it might be interesting. What I got was the best game I played all of 2008!
You play as a Viking in a battle to save Asgard. You get powers from goddesses and get to use cool weapons. You are able to storm castles and fight on large-scale battlegrounds. A world of magic, dragons, and goddesses await you in this incredible game!
As fun goes, this game will not disappoint. There is so much to be seen and found. You don't have to follow a totally linear storyline. If you want to, you can just explore the environment and complete objectives at your leisure! At the same time, there is a defined story with specific events happening in a determined order. Don't skip the dialogue - some lines will have you cracking up in an otherwise serious game!
Take a chance on Viking: Battle for Asgard. Chances are you won't be disappointed.
